Golf Disc Styles Explained

Discs come in several different styles or types of plastic. Here's how to find out what style is right for you:

Pro D - This is the traditional "old school" plastic. It is hard and not as durable as any of the newer ones. This plastic does not wear as well and is easily susceptible to tree and assault wear. They are however the least expensive golf discs on this site.

Elite - Often referred to as "Cyclone Plastic" or the "X Series," Elite plastic is far more durable that Pro-D, yet less expensive than the Z Series. All of our World Distance Records set since 1995 have been with this plastic.

Z - By far the most durable plastic on the market today. The Z Series revolutionized the game not only by being the coolest looking discs out there, but the longest lasting. Discraft dispelled the "planned obsolescence" myth by producing a line of discs that practically won't wear out. They are the most expensive models we carry, but as long as you don't lose one, you can throw them for years.

Glow - Just as the name implies, these discs glow in the dark. Hit them with a camera flash, black light, or even a flashlight and you can play in the dark.

Photon - These discs are a huge improvement over the standard glow discs. The Photon line of golf discs glow longer (much longer) and brighter (much brighter).

Fly-Dye - After production, these discs are run through a special process that makes them resemble tye-dye designs. Every one of these discs is an artistic original. The fly-dye design does not affect the disc's flight.

150 Class - These are golf discs that weigh less than 150 grams.
