Disc Writeup - Cyclone Pro D |

Under 300 Feet |
300-400 Feet |
More Than 400 Feet |
| Into Moderate Wind |
Light wind will have little effect on the Cyclone Pro-D. |
Thrown harder, the Cyclone Pro-D will begin to turn to the right more than expected. |
Once you get the Cyclone Pro-D up to the speed necessary to go this far then you will really notice the turn. |
| Into Heavy Wind |
Not the easiest disc to control into a heavy wind. |
Fairly hard throws are just as difficult to control as shorter ones in this wind. |

| Glide |
The Cyclone Pro-D has decent glide, but will cut back hard as it slows down. |
When thrown at this speed, the Cyclone Pro-D has great glide and doesn't fall off until the very end. |
The Cyclone Pro-D has an amazing amount of glide for those players who throw very hard. It doesn't fall off until the last 40'-50' which is not much for throws of this length. |
| Left Turns |
Even at slow speeds, the -Cyclone Pro-D will not be the easiest to turn left. You can do it with enough angle, but there are discs that will make this shot easier. |
It will turn left and hold its line just fine as long as you start it off this way. |
Not easy to keep it going left when thrown at faster speeds. Other discs are much better for this. |
| Right Turns |
Will keep its right turn at slower speeds until it runs out of spin. Then it will fall back pretty hard. |
As long as you start it going right, it will stay that way most of its flight. However, plan on it fighting back left at the very end. |
The Cyclone Pro-D is a great right turn disc as long as it's thrown hard enough and with enough spin to keep it going right. |
| Rollers |
Good for shorter rollers once you beat it up some. Not too hard to do with the Pro-D plastic. |
Once you throw it a little harder it will turn right which is exactly what you want for longer rollers. |
This may be the best disc ever for super long rollers (along with the Stratus, Xpress, and worn out XS's). It will turn in the air but still hold its line when it begins slowing down on the ground).
|
| Skip Shots |
Has a tendency to get flat after skipping which gives it good distance after contact but kind of hard to control. |

| Straight Throws |
Turns a little left at slower speeds but not as much as the Z-Cyclone so it will work for slower, straight shots. |
At faster speeds the Cyclone Pro-D will fly perfectly straight for a long way. This is an awesome disc for this shot. |
You'll need to throw it with a slight left turn angle because it will turn a little out of your hand. However, once this disc gets flat, it will stay that way for a long time. You will be seeing a lot of top pros using the Cyclone Pro-D for this shot. |
| Upside Down Throws |
The Cyclone Pro-D has a steady, slow turn in the air when thrown upside down. So it flies great, but the Pro-D plastic will beat up so fast when striking the ground that I don't recommend it for this shot. Stick to the Z Plastic here. |
If you are able to throw upside down this far than you have a tremendous weapon that you shouldn't hesitate to use in the right situation. Again, the only problem here is how fast it beats up. Stick to Z Discs for this shot. |

| Putting |
Not good at all for putting. |
| Approaching |
The only approach you may consider using the Cyclone Pro-D for is a moderate left turn. |
| Distance |
This won't be the disc to set a world distance record but will still fly farther that most others. Its ability to keep its line on longer throws makes it a great choice for long holes. At one time, just a few years ago, the Cyclone held nearly every World Distance Record. |
| Best Beginner Use |
The Cyclone Pro-D is a great slight left-turn driver on most holes. It won't be as hard to control as a severe left turn driver, but will still fight to keep going that direction. It wont turn as fast left as the Z Cyclone. Many players find the Pro-D plastic easier to grip than Elite or Z. |
| Best Intermediate Use |
Once the Cyclone Pro-D is thrown hard enough to fly over 300 feet you will soon discover that it flies straight as well as, if not better than, any other disc out there. Very few discs have this ability. Also a great roller, especially when it gets beat up. |
| Best Pro Use |
The Cyclone Pro-D is great for those 300'-400' straight shots, but many "big-arm" pros choose to throw an approach disc here. What those power players will find is that this disc is best for those long, right turn holes where you don't want the disc to fall off too hard at the end of the flight. All discs will fall off some but the Cyclone- D will fall off less than others. Again, this disc is one of the best rollers out there. |
| Final Comments |
Some discs, like the Reaper, fly dramatically different in each plastic. Others, like the Stratus, seem to fly almost the same. The Cyclone Pro-D is somewhere in between. I've noted many of those differences here but the biggest change will simply be how easy or difficult it is to grip. This is an important factor in disc selection as we all grip differently. The Cyclone Pro-D gives everyone the chance to have a Cyclone in their bag that works for them. |
