Golf Disc Styles Explained

This is what this disc was made for.
A good use of this disc.
This disc will work for this shot, but there's probably a better choice.
A good choice only if you've lost your other discs in the lake.
Only use for this shot when you've left your other discs at home.
Flight descriptions apply to right-handed backhands or lefty sidearms.

Disc Writeup - Storm Elite
Under 300 Feet 300-400 Feet More Than 400 Feet
Into Moderate Wind
Light wind will have some effect on the Elite Storm.

Thrown harder, the Elite Storm will begin to turn to the right more than you may want. I've given it 4 E'S only because if a long right turn is what you want then it is a very good choice.

Once you get the Elite Storm up to the speed necessary to go this far then it will really turn too fast to control at his distance.
Into Heavy Wind
Not the easiest disc to control into a heavy wind.

This is not a good headwind disc for farther throws.

Glide
The Elite Storm has awesome glide. It actually was originally thought to be an approach disc but it glides so much that a slower disc will work better.

When thrown at this speed, the Elite Storm has great glide and hardly falls off at all.

It still glides well at any speed even when it slows down. Just like the Stratus but it flies even straighter.
Left Turns
Even with a little angle, the Elite Storm wants to get flat and go straight. It makes it a poor choice for left turn throws with one exception. It's good for those shots that start off turning left but then go straight. Other than that though, try another disc.

At faster speeds it will be difficult to keep this disc turning left.

Forget about it. Getting this disc to turn left when thrown this hard is nearly impossible.
Right Turns
Will keep its right turn at slower speeds even when it runs out of spin.

As long as you start it with the right angle, it will go right for most of its flight.

It almost got 5 E's here but it is just a little harder to control at these speeds than the XL.
Rollers
Great for all but "cut" (left turn) rollers. At slower speeds you'll have to release it a tad higher than you want to get the right angle so I would actually go with the Stratus here.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but at this speed, the Elite Storm is as good as a Stratus.

With longer rollers, your choice of which disc to throw will depend somewhat on what path you want the disc to take, but the Elite Storm will go a long, long way with the consistency you want.
Skip Shots E Probably not a good idea. N/A N/A
Straight Throws
Even though it's a right turn disc, it gets 5 E's because if you release it with the right angle, it will get flat and just stay there.

Same as the previous description but you need to start it off with a little more angle.

Again, same as the previous description (but with even more angle). The Elite Storm just stays flat once it gets there. It's amazing for this throw.
Upside Down Throws
Not a great choice here.

Don't bother, there are so many discs better for this (Z-XS for example). In fact, most upside down throws should be thrown with a Z disc so they don't get roughed up so quickly.
N/A
Putting
Not good at all for putting.
Approaching
I'm not sure this is the best approach disc because it can really get away from you if you throw it even a touch too hard. However, if you have a low ceiling then there's no better choice.
Distance
For pure distance, the Elite Storm is untested. However, at the speeds that most players throw, this disc may fly farther than any disc ever made.
Best Beginner Use The Elite Storm is a great straight flying or right turn shot for almost every player. It will fly really, really far at slower or moderate speeds so it will most likely increase almost everyone's distance.
Best Intermediate Use Once the Elite Storm is thrown hard enough to fly over 300 feet, it will be a perfect choice for longer, straight holes where you don't want it to tail off left at the end.
Best Pro Use The Elite Storm again is great for longer, straight shots. Many pros will prefer the MRV because it will slow down at the end leaving a larger margin of error. One of the big advantages to throwing farther is that you can choose to throw a slower disc than your competitors which is often the best approach to driving strategy.
Final Comments The Elite Storm flies farther than any disc made at normal speeds which makes it a must throw for anyone who needs more distance on their course. It also flies straight a long way which again makes it unique. I believe that this will be the hottest Discraft disc since the release of the XS!
