Disc Writeup - XL Pro D
Under 300 Feet 300-400 Feet More Than 400 Feet
Into Moderate Wind
Even a little wind will have some effect on the XL Pro D. It will begin turning right fairly fast.

Thrown harder, the XL Pro D will begin to turn to the right more than expected.

Not a good disc for hard throws into headwinds.
Into Heavy Wind
Not the easiest disc to control into a heavy wind.

Don't even try.

Glide
The XL Pro D has more glide than any other model made today (same as the other XL's).

When thrown at this speed, the XL Pro D has great glide and doesn't fall off until the very end.

The XL Pro D has an amazing amount of glide for those players who throw very hard. It does not fall off until the last 40'-50' which is not much for throws of this length.
Left Turns
Even at slow speeds, the XL Pro D will not be the easiest to turn left. You can do it with enough angle, but there are discs that will make this shot easier.

Hard to keep it turning left at higher speeds.

Very, very hard to keep going left at these speeds. Use something else here.
Right Turns
Will keep its right turn at slower speeds as good as, if not better, than any other long range driver.

At these speeds it will turn right and stay that way.

Definitely one of the best discs for this shot. Its ability to keep turning, without falling off left too much, is why it held the World Distance Record for so long.
Rollers
Good for shorter rollers once you beat it up some. Not too hard to do with the Pro D plastic.

Once you throw it a little harder it will turn right which is exactly what you want for longer rollers.

A great choice for longer rollers but it will turn right just a little much to be the best for this shot.
Skip Shots
Has a tendency to get flat after skipping which gives it good distance after contact but kind of hard to control.

Straight Throws
Flies straight at slower speeds which is unusual for long range drivers.

At faster speeds the XL Pro D will fly perfectly straight for a long way as long as you start it out with enough angle to compensate for the initial turn.

You'll need to throw it with a pretty severe left turn angle because it will turn quite a bit out of your hand. However, once this disc gets flat, it will stay that way for a long time.
Upside Down Throws
The XL Pro D has a consistent turn in the air when thrown upside down. So it flies great, but the Pro D plastic will beat up so fast when striking the ground that I don't recommend it for this shot. Stick to the Z Plastic here.

If you are able to throw upside down this far than you have a tremendous weapon that you shouldn't hesitate to use in the right situation. Again, the only problem here is how fast it beats up. Stick to Z Discs for this shot.
N/A
Putting
Not good at all for putting.
Approaching
The only approach you may consider using the XL Pro D for is a moderate left turn.
Distance
The only disc in the entire world that flies farther is the XS. The XL held the World Distance Record for several years until the XS was released.
Best Beginner Use The XL Pro D flies incredibly straight when thrown at slower speeds. This is one of the first drivers I would place in the hands of a new player.
Best Intermediate Use The XL Pro D is super for long holes where you want the disc to fly straight or slightly right. With a little tailwind this disc will glide a lot at the end of the flight giving a lot of extra distance.
Best Pro Use The XL Pro D is the perfect choice for very long holes. Once you have a pretty big arm you don't always want long range drivers on shorter holes but if you get to really open up, the XL Pro D is a great choice.
Final Comments The XL was the first disc to break the 200 meter barrier and for a good reason. It was a jump in technology that made longer holes seem shorter. The Pro D XL will keep the XL trend alive by giving players a choice of which XL works best for them.
